The aging in mulberry reflecting completely the Hungarian traditions, which makes the Matheus Pálinka as a real Hungaricum.In the 16–17th centuries the Franciscan monks living in the properties of Beregszász Monastery made palinka from the stone-fruit grown on the flood plain of rivers Tisza, Túr and Szamos in the northern corner of Szatmár-Bereg County with the aim of healing. In the distant past this bewildering drink was solely used as medicament, for making essences. With soaking the different herbs and spirits in the 60-70 proof distillation, they produced essences suitable for treating numerous maladies.Using the recipes describing the several centuries’ experience of the Franciscan friars Matheus Pálinka House re-started making these excellent spirits. After harvesting the perfectly ripen and selected fruit we, even during the mellowing and distilling phase, keep to the old-standing Hungarian traditions. We use a copper pot-still named “kisüst” to distil the fermented and stoned fruit through double refining. During this process we lay special emphasis on separating the pre- and post distillates, thus on preserving the pure middle distillate that gives pálinka. The base material of pálinka gained during the careful distillation provides that already semi-finished quality product, which gets its final colour, fruity scent and soft, silky flavour in the course of ripening in special wooden casks.
The Matheus Pálinka House produces only high category, premium pálinka, which has good price, modern design and high quality. In our product selection the 50 alcohol degree pálinka are the basic one, beyond them you will find 40,44 and 60 alcohol degree pálinka, furthermore 24 alcohol degree pálinka based liquers.
We have developed the Matheus Kosher Pálinka sortiment to satisfy individual demands. The kosher stamp is the guatantee for high quality, as all the production is observed by the Kedassia Rabbinate in London and the Badac Bet Josef Rabbinate in Jerusalem, thus our pálinka stand the most strict hygienic rules and the 5000 year old ISO conditions.
